Jules Verne The Extraordinary Voyages Collection edition by Jules Verne Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Numerous Jules Verne sets currently appear in the bearing this very same title, and all are identical EXCEPT ONE; the edition from Book House contains "only" 47 books (not 54 as do the others), but all 47 are in English, and one of them is THE CHASE OF THE GOLDEN METEOR, which does not appear in this or in any of the other 54 volume sets. That novel is not 100% by Verne but is a re-write by his son; however it's still in the canon and all Verne fans will want to read it. So I do especially recommend that particular edition from Book House. (Besides, unless you read French, the 8 untranslated books in this and the other 54-volume sets are of no value.)
That said, however, getting 46 great Verne books in English (out of 54) is still much more than was hitherto easily obtainable in pre-ebook days, and this set is thus well worth considering. Verne knew how to tell fabulous stories of adventure mixed with science (usually an important component of each story). Some are SF classics, and others, though lesser known, are no less entertaining. In fact, the less-known ones are particularly delightful because they are comparatively "new" to us.
Of course, these are the old, public domain translations, sometimes abridged and expurgated when originally translated from French into English back in their day, but they are still great fun to read. Indeed, these are the classic versions many of us old-timers grew up with. These are highly enjoyable in an old-fashioned, quaint and cozy way. So, however you choose to obtain Verne's works, whether in this set, the Book House set, or a great one from Delphi, be prepared to enjoy the yarns of a master storyteller.
